CMS Awards Whittier Hospital Medical Center Five Stars for Quality
WHITTIER, Calif. [August 4, 2022]
– Whittier Hospital Medical Center has received a five-star rating by the
Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the highest rating approved
by the federal agency and the only hospital to receive the prestigious
rating in Whittier.
Whittier Hospital is among just 13.81% of hospitals nationwide to receive
Five Stars—the highest possible score—out of more than 4,586
Medicare-certified hospitals rated. The overall star rating is based on
how well a hospital performs across different areas of quality, such as
treating heart attacks and pneumonia, readmission rates, and safety of care.
“We are grateful to our doctors, nurses, and the entire staff for
their commitment to make our communities healthy and safe. It is because
of their perseverance and dedication to excellence that we received this
exceptional national rating.” Said Mary Anne Monje, Chief Executive
Officer. “At Whittier Hospital we will continue to provide our patients
the high quality and compassionate care they deserve”.
The rankings were based on Care Compare, a program managed by the federal
CMS. CMS analyzes information on all hospitals enrolled in Medicare or
Medicaid and gives a rating according to their standards.
