Whittier Hospital is among just 7% of hospitals nationwide to receive Five
Stars—the highest possible score—out of more than 4,500 Medicare-certified
The Overall Hospital Rating summarizes a variety of measures across seven
areas of quality into a single rating: Mortality, Safety of Care, Readmission,
Patient Experience, Effectiveness of Care, Timeliness of Care, and Efficient
Use of Medical Imaging.

Hospital Compare (www.medicare.gov/hospitalcompare), a consumer – oriented website that provides information on how
well hospitals provide recommended care to their patients, was created
through Medicare and Hospital Quality Alliance. The website provides information
to the public on how hospitals deliver care and encourages hospitals to
improve the quality of their care. The data from the existing measures
on Hospital Compare, quality ratings is summarized for each hospital to
allow users to easily compare hospitals.
