It wasn't a birthday party but there were cake, food and presents at
Whittier Hospital Medical Center. About 25 Whittier seniors who meet weekly
at the hospital's activity center gave beautiful knitted hats blankets
and booties to about 40 moms-to-be.
The Knitting Club women meet twice a month and make the beautiful pastel
colored garments as part of one of the many activities offered to them.
They make enough presents for all the participants. For them, it is a
way to give to the next generation. This act of kindness gives seniors
a great sense of satisfaction to see young moms enjoy the things they
have made for them.
The younger women are clients of Whittier Hospital's women's clinics
in Uptown Whittier, La Puente, Pico Rivera, La Mirada, Rowland Heights,
La Habra and Norwalk. The invitation to this wonderful event is extended
to all women delivering at the hospital.
This is a way to bring together two of Whittier Hospital's very successful
programs to benefit the most people.
