At Whittier Hospital Medical Center our Rehabilitation Services provide patients the opportunity to relieve pain and regain independence. Whether you have lost function due to an illness or injury, our Rehab Services strive to help patients resume the activities of daily living despite changes in their physical status. From infants to seniors, Whittier Hospital provides comprehensive, friendly care by a team of experienced professionals.

Our Rehab team cares for patients experiencing a broad range of medical problems, including:

OUR TREATMENT TEAM

Our team approach to treatment is geared toward individualized care. Staff members work with patients on setting attainable goals and developing specifically designed treatment plans. We understand that each patient’s need is unique, which is why our team includes physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech/language pathologists who provide specialized care for a wide range of conditions.

PHYSICAL THERAPY

Our physician therapists use some of the latest equipment, including bicycles, upper body bikes, and much more. Physical therapy programs are designed to decrease pain, improve balance, coordination, motion, strength and mobility.

SPEECH THERAPY

For patients who have difficulty communicating such as after a stroke, our speech/language pathologists help improve speech, writing skills, cognition (thinking skills) and swallowing. We offer:

Language Skills:

- Social communication training

INPATIENT AND OUTPATIENT AVAILABILITY

Rehabilitation Services are available on an inpatient and outpatient basis. Many patients, who begin rehabilitation in the hospital, return for follow-up therapy as an out patient. For patients who don’t require hospitalization, a physician referral is needed for out patient therapy. Our comprehensive program is designed to not only get patients back home, but to help patients resume their daily activities independently.
